Holidays make Blogging Difficult

Do you have a difficult time setting asided extra work time during the holidays? I know I do.
I run a small computer repair business, and it seems when everyone else has time off, then the phone starts ringing off the hook seeking pc help. I know that is what i signed on for. When my customer's finally have a PAID day off, they can afford to call for help without taking a day off from work. Unfortunately, it really cuts into my online venture work when my other work rears up it's profitable head.
These work things also cut into the jewelry making side of my life. Pretty soon i will be drawing straws daily to see which of my "interests" gets top billing for the day.

Forget about Actual Holiday stuff. I just don't have the time. And this year, extra cash is going to
hurricane charities..there are just TOO many people in need of necessities, and not the little petty wants and wishes. If i could only buy an extra couple of hours every day life would be so much more productive

Back Issue Gems

Going through back issues of craft and jewelry magazines the other day,I came across a recent gem that i must have thumbed while asleep. It is the Excellent First Issue of "Step By Step Wire Jewelry" which is published by the Same Co. which publishes "Lapidary Journal" and "Step by Step Beads." Back Issues are available, but to make sure you don't miss any of the Information nuggets contained in each of the quarterly issues,(subscribe Now) I just sent in for my subscription. Just Connie Fox's Article about the charm bracelet(front covered) is worth its' weight in gold. It reminded me of the Myriad variations of small component construction and use that need to be created. Practice these basics until they are second nature, and then the minor variations )which will become YOUR signatures) begin to form almost effortlessly. Spend a week with the little basics. Make up 100+ component pieces, and see if your creative juices don't go into Overflow. Visit http://conniefox.com Order her book on cd. Loook through her gallery for more ideas.

My First WireWrap Class

Last February i attended my first wirewrapping class
courtesy of the Downthestreet Bead show in st augustine fl.
Bobbye Brown was my instructor, and within 5 hours i had created
a fairly good wire wrapped pendant, and a beautiful gold filled
wirewrapped bracelet. I couldn't believe the results.Since then,
I have created a few more pieces in my spare time at home. Once i
have more inventory, i plan to use ebay, and also my own web site
for sales.

My suggestion:
the best way to learn wirewrapping is to attend a class, and create
your first item. First this will build confidence, and give you immediate
results. It will also determine if wirewrapping is for you in an afternoon.
Once you have determined to continue, either take another class or invest in some of the wonderful dvd/vhs courses available. Check out your local Michaels store for available classes, community centers, and local art galleries are also a good resource.

Don't forget the Lapidary Journal, local bookstores, and your library for great references, Step-by-step instructions, and ideas. Check out the Journal's Website for great directories of tools, materials, beads, classes and so much more
